Background / Objectives

The role of the supervisors, section head, unit head and division head has changed. In the past, they were expected to be the boss, evaluator, judge and critic. In today’s rapidly changing world the authoritarian manager that valued compliance, conformity and command control hierarchies will not be able to keep up with the pace of change. Today, they must become a partner, facilitator, cheerleader, supporter and coach in order to be successful.

As leaders, our task is to accomplish the organizational mission by means of our greatest resource, our people. As leaders we must understand that the value of diversity is that each individual brings his or her unique experience, skills and commitment to the organization and its mission.

Today’s leader must be able to successfully use a variety of leadership styled depending on the task, mission and individual. Situational leadership can provide you with a variety of leadership tools that can enhance your effectiveness and success as a supervisor, in this rapidly changing world.

Keeping this all in mind, we design this training program with the objectives:

  • To increase your understanding of how to effectively manage people
  • To describe how to use leadership strategies to increase the productivity of your followers
  • To develop specifics skills that will help you match your leadership style to the needs of your people and demand of any situation.

Facilitator(s)

Drs. Sahala P. Sinurat, MSc accomplished, after getting a scholarship from Overseas Fellowship Program (World Bank), his master degree in Operations Research from University of Delaware, Newark (US) in 1990.

With a proven record of teaching, training and consulting experiences and exposure to different cultures behind him, he held several positions at various organizations that include:

  • A researcher for the National Institute for Aeronautics and Space (LAPAN)
  • Professional Staff to Lembaga PPM (a well-known management institute in Indonesia), specialized in human resources management and development, operations/production management, quantitative analysis; lecturer at post graduate of Lembaga PPM. He has about 4000 hours of teaching to big, medium and small companies, local as well as multinational companies.
  • Training and Development Manager for Rothmans of Pall Mall Indonesia, producer of white cigarette such as Dunhill, Kansas, White Horses, etc. His final project with the company was to lead assessment and selection process for merger purposes between British American Tobacco – Rothmans of Pall Mall Indonesia).
